Beyond The Stethoscope

Aug 10, 2020

Favorite quotes of the episode:

“What stands in our way, is the conflict between who we really are and our need to survive.”

“I need to find a better way to be successful and not so driven by this identity I have for myself.”

“What do you value, what do you want, and are they aligned?”

“I’m a big proponent of being who we are every step of the way, and not just saying that when I get there then, I can be happy, or let my guard down or enjoy life.”

“Most of life, as we know it, is of our own creation as far as how we interpreted the things that have happened.”

“Perfect is all that is and all that is not.  All we have is now. It’s like that saying, yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery and that’s why the present is a gift.”

In this episode, I talk with Spencer Snakard.  Spencer is an Executive Transformation Coach, Trainer, and Speaker. TOPICS

  • What’s Ontology?
  • What’s holding us back from achieving that next level of success?
  • What’s the biggest barrier to our success?
  • How to reconcile the internal conflict in today’s corporate environment.
  • Wrangling with Identity vs. living into our purpose.
  • To go from merely surviving to thriving as busy professionals, we need to take a look at the stories we are telling ourselves. How do the stories we tell ourselves stunt or expand our ability to fulfill our mission and make the impact we desire?
  • How can we both be living and serving as our authentic and best selves while fitting into a corporate structure? It can feel like we are trying to stuff a square peg into a round hole at times.
  • What if we are taking all of the right actions to get where we want to go but we still aren’t reaching that next level of success, able to overcome a barrier or we find ourselves stuck in those same negative thought patterns?

5 Questions Segment

Q1. We know that the most successful and happy people have a morning routine, what do you do each morning or evening that sets your day up for success? My morning walks. Almost every morning I go out for a walk and really love to enjoy and just be present during the walk.

Q2. What's your definition of Success? Living in full authentic expression of who you really are, what you are here to do, and what matters most to you.

Q3. What's your definition of Happiness? Joy, ease, living in the flow, being content, and fulfilled with who you are where you are and how it is.

Q4. What do you know now that you wish you would have known 10 years ago? Some form of “Honey, it’s all gonna be alright, you are exactly where you are meant to be.” So I try to just trust and be fully present and know that it’s all going to work out exactly as it’s meant to.

Q5. What do you think is the biggest issue facing busy professionals today? Balancing it all. Living in real alignment and flow.
